Safe Schools Desert Cities is honored to once again participate in Coachella Valley Days of Los Muertos at Sunnylands Center & Gardens.
As one of the community organizations invited to create an altar for this annual celebration of remembrance, SSDC will present a tribute honoring the lives, legacies, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals whose courage, authenticity, and resilience continue to inspire generations.
Día de los Muertos is a time to remember those who have passed while celebrating the impact they made on the lives of others. Through our altar, SSDC invites visitors to reflect on the stories of LGBTQ+ trailblazers, community leaders, chosen family members, and everyday heroes whose lives helped create a more welcoming and affirming world for future generations.
For many LGBTQ+ people, remembering our history is an act of love, gratitude, and connection. Our community is built upon the efforts of those who came before us, and this altar serves as a space to honor their memory while inspiring hope for those who follow.
We invite students, families, educators, community members, and supporters to visit Sunnylands during the celebration and experience the creativity, culture, and spirit represented by altars from organizations across the Coachella Valley.
The event is scheduled for November 4–8. Additional details related to Sunnylands programming will be announced in the coming weeks.
We are grateful to Sunnylands Center & Gardens for once again providing this opportunity to participate in a meaningful community tradition and celebrate the enduring legacy of those whose lives continue to inspire us.
Every photograph tells a story. Every name represents a life that mattered. Every memory is a reminder that love, courage, and community endure long after we are gone. We hope you’ll join us at Sunnylands as we honor those whose lives continue to guide and inspire us.
