SUMMARY:Spirit Day
DESCRIPTION:Spirit Day is the world’s most visible anti-bullying campaign supporting LGBTQ+ youth. Each year\, millions of people\, schools\, organizations\, businesses\, and community leaders wear purple to show their commitment to creating safe\, welcoming\, and inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ young people. \n\nFounded by GLAAD\, Spirit Day raises awareness about the bullying and discrimination many LGBTQ+ youth continue to face while celebrating the power of acceptance\, authenticity\, and belonging. The day serves as a reminder that every student deserves to feel respected\, supported\, and valued for who they are. \nSafe Schools Desert Cities encourages students\, educators\, families\, and allies to participate by wearing purple\, sharing messages of support\, and taking action to foster inclusive school communities where all young people can thrive. \nLearn more about Spirit Day at GLAAD.

SUMMARY:Transgender Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Transgender Awareness Week is an annual observance dedicated to increasing understanding\, visibility\, and support for transgender and nonbinary people. Throughout the week\, communities\, schools\, and organizations share stories\, educational resources\, and opportunities for learning that highlight transgender experiences\, history\, achievements\, and advocacy. \n\nThe week encourages meaningful conversations about inclusion\, respect\, and equity while celebrating the contributions of transgender people in our communities. Transgender Awareness Week culminates on November 20 with Transgender Day of Remembrance\, a day to honor the lives of transgender people lost to anti-transgender violence and to recommit to creating safer\, more affirming communities for all.

SUMMARY:Transgender Day of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance honoring the lives of transgender people who have been lost to anti-transgender violence. Held each year on November 20\, TDOR provides an opportunity to remember those whose lives were taken\, uplift transgender voices\, and raise awareness about the ongoing challenges faced by transgender and nonbinary communities. \n\nCommunities around the world mark the day through vigils\, educational programs\, and acts of reflection that recognize the importance of dignity\, safety\, and belonging for all people. TDOR also serves as a call to action to create more inclusive schools\, workplaces\, and communities where transgender people can live openly\, safely\, and authentically. \nSafe Schools Desert Cities stands in solidarity with transgender and nonbinary youth\, families\, educators\, and allies as we honor lives lost and recommit to fostering respect\, understanding\, and equity for all. \nLearn more about Transgender Day of Remembrance.
